Beadboard & Babies...

I was trimming some out of control lilac bushes yesterday, just chopping away, only to discover I came this close to cutting a branch that had a cardinal's nest in it.

The nest is a bit exposed now, Im hoping the stupid neighborhood cats (sorry cat people) dont get the babies. Ive never seen little baby cardinals before.

Brian got the beadboard up last weekend. We are really slow with our home improvement projects. Im going to paint some this week.

We have put a deposit on a puppy, a black female and will pick up end of June. The breeder is in Louisville. Didn't go with Lego's breeder because of cost of picking it up in Virginia, between gas prices and hotel it would tack on an extra 500 bucks. Plus we wanted one by July so Ian could get some puppy time in before he heads to Purdue. When I get a pic of her, I will share.

Hope your week is a good one!

Our Montana...

Most of you know that we lost our Montana on Sunday, May 4th. We are all still in a bit of a shock about it, we did cancelled our trip to Texas for this upcoming weekend. Brian put it best, we just aren't ready to put happy faces on right now. Thankfully Cheryl is a dog lover too and understands.

The day after Montana died we took Lego to the forest preserves, we did the same thing with Montana when Lieber died...it's just our way of formally saying goodbye. I think a walk in the woods with the dogs is all of ours favorite thing to do, ever since the kids could walk.

I don't know why I have such a hard time talking about this stuff, it usually makes people feel better, but it just makes me cry. It took me a year to talk about Lieber. I made a little webpage in Montana's memory, here it is...

Thanks everyone for all the comforting words you have sent.

Where to start?

My surgery went well on Tuesday, we got there at six and were home by ten. I slept the day away with some help from Vicodin. By Wednesday I felt myself again. Actually today was the first time I've had any discomfort but I was up and around a lot...and a lot of stairs.

Brian was going to put in the new counter top in the half bath surgery day since he took the day off but didn't want to wake me. He put it in today, along with a new faucet and light fixture too. Tomorrow we go shopping for a mirror.

Next step.....beadboard all around the bottom of the walls up to the top of the vanity.

We also went and voted today, to avoid the crowds on Tuesday. Hillary or O'bama are here somewhere in the state it seems every day. Bill is showing up in these really small towns, I think they are hiding him! We get about three phone calls a day solicitating votes. It's a bit crazy! I'm surprised none have showed up here yet, if any of them come to a big enough venue it would be a fun thing to see.

And speaking of crazy... Ian voted today for the first time! I can't tell you how many county council meetings he has gone to for his Gov't class this semester, so it's nice he has had such an exciting primary to vote in for his first time. Can't wait till January, it's been a very long 8 years....I'm Bushed!
